Alfurqan — Support & FAQ

Recitation does not start when I press Play

• Check media volume (not ringer). Increase the volume slider while audio is playing.
• Check internet — if the surah is not downloaded, the app streams it.
• Headphones/Bluetooth — disconnect to play on the device speaker.
• Another audio app — pause Spotify, YouTube, etc.
• Force-close and reopen the app.

Audio stutters or cuts out

• Usually weak signal while streaming — download the surah for offline playback.
• Battery saver / Low Power Mode throttles background networking — disable temporarily.

Playback stops when I lock the screen

• Android: Settings → Apps → Alfurqan → Battery → Unrestricted.
• iOS: Settings → General → Background App Refresh → enable for Alfurqan.
• Xiaomi/Huawei/Samsung: add Alfurqan to protected apps in battery settings.

Ayah highlighting is out of sync

• Restart the surah from the beginning.
• Make sure the selected reciter matches the downloaded audio segments.

Repeat / speed controls

• Repeat count: ayah replays N times. Icon shows count (e.g. 3×).
• Speed: cycles through 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 2×.

Prayer times look wrong

• Tap the location icon → grant location permission → "Detect Location".
• If you traveled, re-detect the location.
• Manual city entry via the edit icon.
• For specific calculation methods (Umm al-Qura, MWL, Egyptian, ISNA, Karachi, Shafi, Hanafi), contact support — user-selectable methods are in progress.

Hijri date is off by one day

The Islamic (Hijri) calendar is lunar and varies by region. Use the Hijri adjustment slider in Settings → Prayer (±1 or ±2 days).

Athan does not sound at prayer time

• Notification permission granted.
• Enable athan per-prayer: Settings → Prayer → Athan Settings.
• Not in Silent / Do Not Disturb.
• Exact alarms (Android 12+): Settings → Apps → Special access → Alarms & reminders.
• Background activity (Android): Battery → Unrestricted.
• iOS: Settings → Notifications → Alfurqan → Allow, Sounds ON, all display options ON.

Wrong muezzin / voice

Settings → Prayer → Athan Settings → Muezzin. Some voices require downloading first.

Athan too loud or too soft

Android plays at media volume, iOS at alert volume. Adjust while athan is playing. On Android, flip phone face-down to silence (if enabled).

Alfurqan requests only permissions it needs:

Alfurqan does not request contacts, calendar, microphone, camera, photos, or SMS.

Grant or revoke

• Android: Settings → Apps → Alfurqan → Permissions.
• iOS: Settings → Alfurqan (scroll to app).

Download for offline use:

• Reciters — individual surahs or full recitations.
• Tafseer — Ibn Kathir, Al-Saddi, Al-Tabari, Al-Muyassar, Maarif-ul-Quran, and more.
• Hadith books — 16 collections (Bukhari, Muslim, Sunans, Riyad as-Salihin, Bulugh al-Maram, Mishkat, etc.). Three bundled with the app.
• Mushaf fonts — SVG Mushaf, QCF V2, QCF V4 Tajweed.
• Muezzin athans.

Download fails or stuck

• Check internet connectivity.
• Free up storage — large files can exceed 100 MB.
• Retry — the app resumes where possible.
• If persistent: Android → Clear Cache; iOS → Offload App.

Download is slow

• Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular.
• Avoid peak hours.

Storage location

• Android: private app storage. Uninstall removes downloads.
• iOS: sandboxed Documents. Offloading removes downloads.

Android Auto

• Connect via USB or wireless Android Auto.
• Alfurqan appears under Media apps.
• Browse by Reciter or Surah.
• Downloaded surahs play offline; others stream.

Troubleshooting:

• Update Android Auto from Play Store.
• Android Auto → Customize Launcher → enable Alfurqan.
• Grant notification permission (required).
• Force-stop Android Auto and reconnect if missing.

Apple CarPlay

• Connect iPhone via USB or wireless.
• Alfurqan appears on CarPlay home.
• Browse by Reciter or Surah; Siri voice control supported.

Troubleshooting:

• Settings → General → CarPlay → Your Car → Customize → add Alfurqan.
• Restart phone and reconnect.
• Wireless CarPlay: verify Wi-Fi/Bluetooth pairing.

Poor audio quality in car

• Prefer downloaded over streamed.
• Set car audio source to Phone (BT / USB / AUX).

Arrow spins or points wrong

• Uses the device magnetometer and location.
• Calibrate: move the device in a figure-8.
• Keep away from metal, magnets, speakers, laptops, car dashboards.
• Grant location permission.

Qibla unavailable

Some low-end Android tablets and older iPads lack a magnetometer — the qibla requires one.

Bookmark types

• Page bookmark — top bar bookmark icon.
• Ayah bookmark — long-press ayah → Bookmark. Multiple per page.
• Recent pages — last pages kept automatically.

All appear in the Bookmarks tab, grouped by page.

Bookmarks disappeared

• Uninstalling or clearing app data removes them (stored locally).
• On iOS, included in iCloud backup if enabled.
• Cross-device sync is not currently offered.

Light / dark mode

• Tap the sun/moon icon in the header.
• Or: Settings → Display → follow system / light / dark.

Reading theme

• Palette icon in the Quran reader top bar.
• Light, Sepia, Dark, or Custom.

Mushaf fonts

• Standard (KFGQPC Hafs Uthmani) — bundled.
• SVG Mushaf — vector per-page, bundled.
• QCF V2 plain and QCF V4 Tajweed — downloadable (~40–80 MB).

Settings → Display → Mushaf Style.

Text size

Settings → Display → Font size slider (non-Mushaf modes).

Hadith text cramped

Increase system font size; Alfurqan respects accessibility scaling.

Full screen reader support.

TalkBack (Android)

• Settings → Accessibility → TalkBack.
• All elements labeled and swipe-reachable.
• Arabic read in Arabic, English in English.

VoiceOver (iOS)

• Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver.
• All controls labeled; rotor supported.

Font scaling & RTL

Both platforms respect system font scaling. Arabic UI flips the layout right-to-left automatically.

• No personal data collection. No analytics, no trackers, no ads.
• Location used only on-device for prayer times and qibla.
• Bookmarks, downloads, settings stored only on your device.
• Audio streams from our API at alfurqan.online. No user identifiers sent.
• No account required.

App feels sluggish

• Close other apps.
• Restart the device.
• Update to the latest version.

Widgets / lock screen controls

Not yet supported — planned for a future release.

Re-installing

Removes all local data (bookmarks, downloads, settings).

• Android: long-press icon → Uninstall → reinstall from Play.
• iOS: long-press icon → Remove App → Delete → reinstall from App Store.

Language

Arabic and English UI. Settings → General → Language, or via the AR/EN pill in the header.
